The SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea Club announces, on Wednesday, the death of Ukrainian player Iryna Glibko and sends a heartfelt message of condolences. Iryna Glibko was only 34 years old.
”With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of an exceptional athlete, Iryna Glibko. A true leader on the field and a special soul off it, Iryna was an example of dedication, passion, and professionalism for all those who interacted with her. Through her way of being, but also through her dedication, she left an indelible mark in the memories of all those who had the privilege of knowing her or working alongside her.
Sport Club Municipal Râmnicu Vâlcea is deeply grateful for all the moments when Iryna was with us, for every goal scored, and for every smile brought to the faces of red and blue supporters. Her loss leaves an immense gap in our hearts, but also in the handball community.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and all those dear to her in these difficult times. Iryna, you will always remain in our hearts! Rest in peace!”, is the Wednesday message from SCM Rm. Vâlcea.
At the age of 34, Iryna Glibko played in the National League from 2012. With CSM Bucharest and SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea, she became a national champion, and the other teams she played for were Danubius Galați and HCM Roman.
Iryna Glibko was also a member of the Ukrainian national team. She played at SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea from 2017 until earlier this year. The club did not provide information about the cause of her death.
