On Thursday, IDF, Israeli police, and Shin Bet security service reported that four terrorists hiding in a mosque were neutralized in an operation in the city of Tulkarm, in northern Judea and Samaria, according to Haaretz.
One of the deceased was identified as Mohammad Jaber, a commander of the Jihad Islamic organization, who was involved in last year’s attack in Qalqilya where Amnon Muchtar was killed.
Jaber, also known as „Abu Shuja’a,” leads the Tulkarm battalion and has survived several attempts by security forces to eliminate him in recent months.
In July last year, Jaber managed to avoid arrest by the Palestinian Authority when their forces tried to apprehend him at a hospital in Tulkarm where he was receiving medical treatment.
Security forces also reported that an IDF soldier sustained minor injuries during the operation.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on Israel to immediately halt the military operation in northern Judea and Samaria.
„The recent developments in the occupied Judea and Samaria, including Israel’s launching of large-scale military operations, are deeply concerning,” Guterres wrote on the social media platform X.
Israel initiated what it terms a counter-terrorist operation on Tuesday evening.
At least 11 individuals were killed in joint IDF and Shin Bet operations in the cities of Jenin and Tul Karm in Judea and Samaria, as announced by the Palestinian Ministry of Health on Wednesday.
