Theater Luceafărul performs in Hamlet’s country

A portion of Theater Luceafărul Iași’s artistic team is on its way to Denmark, where they will perform two shows in front of the audience in Skive. The presence of the actors from Iași in Hamlet’s country is the result of the official invitation from Dansk Rumænsk Kultur Forening in Skive (DRKFS) and the Embassy of Romania in the Kingdom of Denmark and Iceland. Entitled „Romanian Theater in Skive,” the project involves supporting, on Saturday,On 31 August, at the Skive Theater, there will be two performances featuring the plays The Goat with Three Kids and The Clown Station.

The Goat with Three Kids (directed by Ion Ciubotaru, stage design by Mihai Pastramagiu, music by Matilda Andrici, starring Claudiu Gălățeanu, Ioana Iordache, Carmen Mihalache, Ileana Ocneanu, Elena Zmuncilă) presents Ion Creangă’s imagined narrative in a version that preserves the traditional vein through stage design inspired by the naive painting of Gheorghe Ciobanu, through music and acting style. The show targets the Romanian community in the region.

The Clown Station, a scenic creation for the whole family (directed by Ana Crăciun Lambru, set design by Elena Iorga, costumes and puppets by Alexandra Budianu, featuring actors George Cocoș, Cătălin Cucu, Claudiu Gălățeanu, Cristian Gheorghiu, Carmen Mihalache, Raluca Pintilie, Liliana Mavriș Vârlan, Elena Zmuncilă) is nonverbal and takes viewers on a journey of imagination through various emotional registers, from joy to melancholy, passing through playfulness. The target audience is the Danish spectators.

The two performances from the permanent repertoire of Luceafărul Theater Iași are among those seen by audiences worldwide, their artistic qualities having led them in previous seasons to festivals and tours in Spain, Italy, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and China, and now, in the Kingdom of Denmark. „It is a new opportunity to promote the culture of Iași, Romanian culture beyond borders. Our presence in Skive is a premiere, as we are in Hamlet’s country for the first time. The plays The Goat with Three Kids and The Clown Station have won multiple awards and have been selected for festivals worldwide, being viewed by thousands of spectators. Theater as a living art is very important in our lives, both for adults and children, forming personalities. Through the narratives told and the emotions evoked, theater has the power to bring people together, strengthen communities, and establish strong soul connections,” said the theater researcher Oltița Cîntec, interim manager of Luceafărul Theater Iași, Romania.
